About Tri Delta

Tri Delta was founded by women, for women, in 1888 at Boston University when our Founders bravely created a new organization that would “think more of a woman’s inner character than her outward appearance.” Their vision has grown into the dynamic women’s organization we know today.

Today, Tri Delta is a network of nearly 250,000 women, and we are committed to lifelong learning through educational initiatives, transformational programming and relevant personal and professional development.

From supporting Tri Delta’s Foundation—which empowers collegiate and alumnae members through transformational programs, scholarships and emergency financial support—to supporting the life-saving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and local children’s cancer charities, Tri Deltas are passionate about serving others.

Chapter History

The Rochester Alumnae Chapter was organized July 7 at the home of Mabel Maloney. Charter members were Clara Beers, Mrs. Pritchard, Edith Kinney, Jo Brown, Clara Harris, Anna Harris, and Mabel Maloney. The first president was Clara Beers. The alumnae Chapter received its charter on January 31, 1914. there were no formal minutes kept until 1922.

In 1954, the chapter began to award an annual scholarship to a local female high school student, on her way to college. Although Tri-Delta's national philanthropy is now St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Rochester Alumnae Chapter's scholarship has been so successful that we still give a scholarship each year.

PresentCurrently, we have regular meetings, at least six times a year, including a Potluck Dinner in September, Founder's Day Dinner in November and the Annual Pansy Breakfast in May. We organize several philanthropy events throughout the year. There is an email distribution list that informs all members of chapter events. During the pandemic we have turned to Zoom for more creative chapter meetings.
