Background
In the 1930s and 1940s, Tri Delta had scholarship as its overall goal nationally. Our chapter started a scholarship in the 1930s. It was a small loan of $200 or so. This continued with small increases in amount until 1954 when our current annual scholarship award began. The award was $500 or so, which gradually increased to $1,000. Our scholarship award remained at $1,000 for 15 or more years. We also offered scholarships to both a high school woman and collegiate woman. In 2014, we increased the award to $1,500. Now in 2022 we are able to award up to $3,000 in scholarship funds.
Beryl Haas, a 99-year-old alum, left us a surprise bequest. she had been a TriDelta for 80 years! -- with no children or other family. We are so lucky to use this gift to fund future education for young woman.
